Our Story

About More Noir

Michael F. Whiteman

Founder & CEO

Heritage

First-generation
Caribbean American

Roots

Saint Lucia · Trinidad
Queens, New York

Growing up in Queens, one truth became impossible to ignore: Black businesses survived or shuttered based almost entirely on the support of their own community. No algorithm surfaced them. No platform championed them.

As a military member and avid traveler, the founder came to know the struggle firsthand — landing in a new city and searching for the Black-owned businesses that scratch the itch, the ones that feel like home. Along the way came the privilege of standing in the presence of remarkable entrepreneurs whose businesses deserved far more exposure than they were getting. More Noir grew out of both: the absence felt on the road, and the brilliance found everywhere it looked.

"Within the Caribbean community, it is imperative to support each other — to encourage wealth and prosperity among one another."

More Noir exists to act on that belief — centralizing Black business discovery city by city, connecting a paying member community directly with verified Black-owned businesses, and keeping Black wealth within the community where it belongs.

Exclusive and Unapologetic — built by us, for us.
